The United Nations' First-Ever AR Campaign

Categories: Philanthropy  ·  Client: The United Nations

Since January 2015, United Nations agencies have used virtual reality to inspire empathy and drive positive social change.

At the 73rd UN General Assembly in September 2018, the World Food Programme (WFP) debuted the first-ever UN augmented reality project, featuring the real-life stories of aid beneficiaries, workers and partners.

The AR experience formed part of the "Feed Our Future: Tech and the End of Hunger" exhibit, which also included a 360° VR cinema, a global cinema ad campaign with a Facebook Messenger bot, videos and a hydroponic display, all connected to the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. The exhibit was produced by WFP together with UN Global Pulse and the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development Data.

Issa PR launched the AR campaign through a global exclusive with Fortune Magazine on World Food Day, October 16. Fortune reaches nearly 8 million monthly unique users. WFP works in more than 80 countries.
